Navy disinfects SLBC, Jaya Container Terminal

Mar 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka Navy, as another step of its disinfection program to curb the spreading of new coronavirus in the country, today (21st) disinfected the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) premises.
The SLBC has requested the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, to carry out the disinfection as journalists and other persons visit the SLBC premises on a regular basis.
Accordingly, the Navy’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Emergency Response Unit of the Western Naval Command has launched a disinfection program at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation premises.
The disinfection was done to cover all the premises of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation.
Meanwhile, the Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Unit Friday (20th March) disinfected the Jaya Container Terminal at Colombo harbor, which has been a crucial commercial hub in the country,
Following the standard operational procedures, the unit disinfected the Jaya Container Terminal premises including its Administration Block and other office premises providing its workers a safe working environment.
The Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Unit attached to the Southern Naval Command during the last three days engaged in disinfecting several public places frequently surrounded by people in Galle area including the Galle harbor, Kaluwella Christian church and Galle District Secretariat premises.
The Navy has taken a number of measures to control the spreading of new coronavirus under the directives of Commander of the Navy.
The Navy will continue the disinfection program further to protect especially the places that would directly influence the country's economy, the Navy said.
